Cấu trúc đề thi B1 Cambridge

Đề thi B1 Cambridge (tên đầy đủ: Cambridge English: B1 Preliminary, trước đây gọi là PET – Preliminary English Test) có cấu trúc chuẩn gồm 4 kỹ năng: Reading, Writing, Listening và Speaking. Cụ thể như sau:

1. Reading (Đọc hiểu) – 45 phút

Gồm 6 phần – 32 câu hỏi:

• Part 1: Multiple Choice – Đọc thông báo, biển báo và chọn đáp án đúng.

• Part 2: Matching – Nối thông tin (như mô tả người) với đoạn văn phù hợp.

• Part 3: Multiple Choice – Đọc đoạn văn ngắn và chọn đáp án đúng.

• Part 4: Multiple Choice – Đọc đoạn văn dài và trả lời câu hỏi.

• Part 5: Gap Filling (Multiple Choice Cloze) – Điền từ vào chỗ trống.

• Part 6: Open Cloze – Điền từ thích hợp vào chỗ trống (không có lựa chọn).

2. Writing (Viết) – 45 phút

Gồm 2 phần:

• Part 1: Viết email hoặc tin nhắn (khoảng 100 từ) dựa trên yêu cầu đề bài.

• Part 2: Viết bài luận (Story hoặc Article) khoảng 100 từ, dựa vào một câu gợi ý hoặc chủ đề.

3. Listening (Nghe hiểu) – 30 phút + 6 phút chuyển đáp án

Gồm 4 phần – 25 câu hỏi:

• Part 1: Multiple Choice – Nghe 7 đoạn hội thoại ngắn và chọn đáp án đúng.

• Part 2: Matching – Nghe 6 đoạn hội thoại và nối người nói với thông tin phù hợp.

• Part 3: Multiple Choice – Nghe đoạn hội thoại dài và chọn đáp án đúng.

• Part 4: Gap Filling – Nghe một đoạn thông tin và điền từ vào chỗ trống.

4. Speaking (Nói) – 12–17 phút / 2 thí sinh / 2 giám khảo

Gồm 4 phần:

• Part 1: Interview – Giới thiệu bản thân và trả lời câu hỏi cá nhân.

• Part 2: Collaborative Task – Thảo luận và đưa ra ý kiến cùng thí sinh khác.

• Part 3: Long Turn – Nói về 2 bức tranh được cung cấp.

• Part 4: Discussion – Thảo luận thêm về chủ đề liên quan đến Part 3.

Thang điểm bài thi B1 Cambridge

Bài thi B1 Cambridge được đánh giá theo thang điểm riêng biệt cho từng kỹ năng Nghe, Nói, Đọc và Viết. Sau đây là cách thức tính điểm và quy đổi điểm số cho bài thi B1 Cambridge:

1. Điểm số cho từng kỹ năng:

• Mỗi kỹ năng Nghe, Nói, Đọc và Viết được đánh giá theo thang điểm từ 0 đến 200 điểm.

• Điểm số được tính dựa trên số lượng câu trả lời đúng trong bài thi.

2. Quy đổi điểm sang thang điểm 100:

• Sau khi có điểm số cho từng kỹ năng, điểm số sẽ được quy đổi sang thang điểm 100 theo bảng sau:

• Điểm số tổng kết được quy đổi sang trình độ B1 Cambridge theo bảng sau:

Part 1 – Multiple Choice (5 câu)

Ở phần này, bạn sẽ thấy những biển báo, tin nhắn, thông báo ngắn. Mẹo làm bài:

• Đọc kỹ từng dòng thông báo.

• Tìm từ khóa như: don’t, must, available, closed, tomorrow, will.

• Chọn đáp án có ý nghĩa gần nhất với thông báo, tránh chọn đáp án có từ giống nhưng nghĩa khác.

Lưu ý: Đề hay đánh lừa bằng các từ giống trong thông báo nhưng đảo ngược nghĩa.

Part 2 – Matching (5 câu)

Bạn cần nối 5 người với 5 ý thích hoặc nhu cầu. Mẹo làm bài:

• Đọc nhanh tên người và sở thích.

• Gạch chân từ khóa (ví dụ: future, mystery, famous people, animals).

• Đọc từng mô tả và tìm từ/cụm từ tương đương.

Lưu ý: Đừng bị bẫy bởi những từ gây nhiễu. Hãy tìm ý chính.

Part 3 – Multiple Choice (5 câu)

Phần này có 1 đoạn văn ngắn + 5 câu hỏi. Mẹo làm bài:

• Bước 1: Đọc nhanh câu hỏi trước, gạch chân từ khóa.

• Bước 2: Đọc đoạn văn và tìm câu trả lời theo thứ tự.

• Bước 3: Loại trừ đáp án không hợp lý.

Lưu ý: Câu hỏi theo đúng thứ tự thông tin trong đoạn văn.

Part 4 – Long Reading (5 câu)

Đoạn văn dài hơn Part 3, nhưng câu hỏi vẫn đơn giản. Mẹo làm bài:

• Làm giống Part 3: Đọc câu hỏi trước, xác định từ khóa.

• Chú ý những chi tiết cụ thể (thời gian, địa điểm, đồ vật...).

• Khi câu hỏi về cảm xúc (How did she feel?), hãy tìm từ/cụm từ thể hiện cảm xúc.

Part 5 – Multiple Choice Cloze (6 câu)

Bạn cần chọn từ đúng (ngữ pháp hoặc ngữ nghĩa) để điền vào chỗ trống. Mẹo làm bài:

• Đọc toàn đoạn 1 lượt để hiểu ý chính.

• Kiểm tra thì động từ, dạng từ trước và sau chỗ trống.

• Loại trừ đáp án sai ngữ pháp ngay từ đầu.

Lưu ý: Đây là phần kiểm tra ngữ pháp lồng trong văn bản.

Part 6 – Open Cloze (6 câu)

Phần này khó hơn Part 5 vì không có lựa chọn sẵn. Bạn cần tự nghĩ từ phù hợp. Mẹo làm bài:

1. Phần 1 – Viết Email

Bước 1 – Phân tích đề bài: Bạn luôn cần xác định rõ 3 ý mà người viết email hỏi bạn. Ví dụ trong đề:

• Nơi nào đẹp nhất trong thành phố?

• Có thể làm gì ở đó?

• Thời tiết thế nào?

Bước 2 – Lập dàn ý ngắn gọn:

• Lời chào & mở đầu: Chào bạn, cảm ơn email.

• Thân bài: Trả lời từng câu hỏi + thêm vài chi tiết cá nhân để làm email tự nhiên.

• Kết thúc: Mời bạn đến, đề nghị giúp đỡ thêm.

Bước 3 – Lưu ý khi viết:

• Viết thân mật, gần gũi (vì đây là email cho bạn).

• Dùng thì hiện tại đơn, cấu trúc câu đơn giản.

• Liên kết ý bằng từ nối: First, Also, Besides, Moreover, Finally, By the way...

2. Phần 2 - Essay

Option 1 – Story:

• Viết theo gợi ý mở đầu.

Cách làm:

• Bạn sẽ nghe 7 đoạn hội thoại ngắn, mỗi đoạn chỉ có 1 câu hỏi.

• Hãy đọc nhanh câu hỏi và 3 phương án A, B, C trước khi nghe.

• Tập trung vào thông tin chính như: Thời gian, địa điểm, vật dụng, kế hoạch, người nói, v.v.

• Nếu bạn bỏ lỡ lần nghe đầu tiên, đừng lo, bạn sẽ được nghe lại lần 2.

• Gạch chân từ khóa trong câu hỏi và đáp án.

• Không cố nghe từng từ — hãy nghe ý chính.

Part 2 – Matching

Cách làm:

• Bạn sẽ nghe 6 người nói về sở thích của họ.

• Có 7 hoạt động, nhưng chỉ có 6 người. Sẽ có 1 hoạt động thừa.

• Khi nghe, hãy chú ý từng người nói về điều gì thích làm nhất.

Cách làm:

• Tập trung nghe thông tin cụ thể liên quan đến từng câu hỏi: địa điểm, thời gian, lý do, ý kiến.

• Lúc nghe, đừng cố nhớ hết cả đoạn. Chỉ cần nghe và khoanh vùng thông tin trả lời câu hỏi.

Part 4 – Gap Filling

Cách làm:

• Bạn sẽ nghe thông tin về một chủ đề (ở đây là trung tâm thể thao).

• Bạn cần điền từ hoặc số còn thiếu vào chỗ trống.

• Từ cần điền sẽ là: Số, Ngày, Địa điểm, Tên, Giờ, Loại hình hoạt động...

Part 2 – Collaborative Task (3–4 phút)

Instructions: The interlocutor will give you a situation. You have to discuss with the other candidate and make a decision together.

Situation: Imagine you and your friend want to spend a day out together. Talk to each other about the different places you could go and decide where you will go.

Options:

• The beach

• The cinema

• A shopping centre

• A museum

• A park

Task: Discuss the pros and cons of each place and agree on one place to go.

Part 3 – Long Turn (3 minutes)

Instructions: Each candidate will receive two pictures. You have to talk about the pictures for about 1 minute and compare them

Question: Compare the two pictures and say how the people might be feeling.

Part 4 – Discussion (4–5 phút)

Instructions: The interlocutor will ask both candidates questions related to the topic in Part 3.

Questions:

1. Do you prefer eating at home or in a restaurant? Why?

2. What do people usually do at family meals in your country?

3. Do you think it’s important for families to eat together? Why?

4. How has family time changed compared to the past?

Part 1 – Interview

Cách làm:

• Đây là phần dễ nhất, bạn chỉ cần giới thiệu bản thân và trả lời những câu hỏi đơn giản về cuộc sống.

• Hãy chuẩn bị sẵn những câu trả lời cho các chủ đề quen thuộc: Family, Hobbies, Daily routine, Food, Travel.

• Trả lời ngắn gọn nhưng đủ ý, tránh trả lời 1 từ.

Các bạn có thể sử dụng những cụm từ như:

• In my free time, I like…

• I live with…

• I’ve never been to… but I’d like to…

• My favourite food is… because…

Candidate A:

My name is Anna and I’m from Ho Chi Minh City. I live with my parents and my younger brother. We’re a small family, but very close. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and watching movies. I also like hanging out with my friends on weekends. I have never been to another country, but I really want to visit Japan because I love Japanese culture. My favourite food is pizza because it’s delicious and easy to share with friends.

Part 2 – Collaborative Task

Cách làm:

• Đây là phần thảo luận cùng bạn thi, bạn phải trao đổi ý kiến, đồng ý, không đồng ý, hỏi ý kiến.

• Bạn KHÔNG cần đưa ra ý kiến đúng – chỉ cần thể hiện kỹ năng giao tiếp.

• Quan trọng: Phản hồi bạn thi (Don’t talk alone).

Các bạn hãy sử dụng những cụm từ sau:

• What do you think about…?

• I think we should… because…

• That’s a good idea, but…

• Shall we choose…?

• I prefer… because…

Mẫu trả lời:

• Anna: So, we want to spend a day out. What do you think about going to the beach?

• Ben: Hmm… I like the beach, but it’s a bit far. What about the cinema?

• Anna: That’s a good idea. We could watch a new movie. But maybe it’s not very active.

• Ben: True. How about going to the park? It’s close, and we can relax or play games.

• Anna: Yes, that sounds great. We can bring some snacks too.

• Ben: Shall we choose the park then?

• Anna: Sure! Let’s go to the park.

Part 3 – Long Turn

Cách làm:

• Bạn cần nói liên tục khoảng 1 phút về 2 bức tranh.

• So sánh điểm giống và khác, nói về cảm xúc, tình huống trong tranh.

Các bạn hãy sử dụng những cụm từ sau:

• In the first picture… / In the second picture…

• Both pictures show…

• However, in the first picture… while in the second picture…

• They might be feeling…

• Maybe they are…

Mẫu trả lời:

In the first picture, there are some people having a picnic in the park. They look happy and relaxed, sitting on the grass and enjoying food together. In the second picture, there is a family having dinner at home. They are sitting around a table and talking to each other. Both pictures show people eating together, but in different places. The first picture is outside, in nature, while the second one is indoors, at home. I think the people in the first picture might feel excited and free because they are outside. The family in the second picture might feel comfortable and close because they are at home.

Part 4 – Discussion

Cách làm:

• Đây là phần mở rộng của Part 3.

• Bạn cần trả lời câu hỏi có chiều sâu hơn, đưa ra ý kiến cá nhân + lý do + ví dụ.

• Có thể đồng ý hoặc phản hồi ý kiến của bạn thi.

Các bạn hãy sử dụng những cụm từ sau:

• In my opinion…

• I believe that… because…

• For example…

• I agree with you, but…

• It depends on…

• Question 1: Do you prefer eating at home or in a restaurant? Why?

I prefer eating at home because I can eat with my family and the food is healthier. Also, it’s cheaper and more relaxing.

• Question 2: What do people usually do at family meals in your country?

In my country, family meals are very important. We usually talk about our day, share stories, and sometimes watch TV together while eating.

• Question 3: Do you think it’s important for families to eat together? Why?

Yes, I think it’s very important. It helps family members to connect and understand each other better. Nowadays, people are very busy, so eating together is a good way to spend time as a family.

• Question 4: How has family time changed compared to the past?

In the past, families used to have meals together every day. Now, many people are too busy with work or school, so they often eat alone or outside. I think family time has become shorter and less regular than before.
